My hubby, my drinking Buddy

I’ve been with my husband for 25 years. We’ve had a lot of fun, we have tons of fun party friends and we’ve drank more wine and beer than is probably humanly possible, if I was to guess!

Well, the past year we have talked often about the ages we are and the impact of our party lifestyle on our future health.

As of 2020 we have agreed to go down the path of sobriety together as best friends and lovers.

We know it will change our life. We know it’s good for our health, and for our kids. We don’t know what it will do to some of our friendships which revolve around partying. But we are committed to doing this for our own growth and betterment.

I guess I’m lucky to have him on the journey with me but it scares me too. I’m nervous that if one of us slips the other will follow suit. So, we just need to be strong together and not go down that codependent enabling path.

I’m hopeful that with the support of other sobriety bloggers and the support of our friends we will find ourselves in amazing new places in our lives by the next holiday season with no desire to ever go back to this toxic way of life.

Our relationship should improve immensely as well, as we’ve been kind of short with each other because we feel ill from drinking all the time. We also work together so that makes things even more tense. I’m praying for this new lifestyle to bring amazing improvements to our relationship as well as our health.

2020 here we come.

I just turned 50 and am ready to make 2020 the year of major change for myself and my family! I am a realtor, an artist and a fitness lover. I am ready to tackle some of those difficult things in life that seem to get put off and put off and see where this new road of focus and intention takes me.
